Hello and Welcome to the Department of Communication at California University, East Bay.

We are a very proud, dynamic department of over 600 students currently with full seven full time faculty, experts and scholars in the areas of political communication, journalism, rhetoric, strategic communication, media studies, media production, social media, critical cultural studies and more. We also bring in a rather large array of wonderful lecturers from around the bay area, who also may be scholars and/or professionals in their fields.

Our goal is a simple one. We aim to provide a challenging, rigorous educational experience in an area of study that is constantly and continually evolving and to fortify our students with the tools they need to land a first job in the career of their choice or to pursue graduate studies.

We have converted to semesters from a quarter system effective fall of 2018. Our Bachelor’s Degree in Communication will offer concentrations in Multimedia Journalism, Strategic Communication and Media Studies and Communication. Look for us to continue to grow in ways that benefit our wonderful, diverse study body, which may include additional faculty, new degree programs, more study abroad experiences and an expansion of internship opportunities at ground zero, the heart of innovation for the entire country, the greater Silicon Valley, which is at our doorstep.

Please take a look around our department web site. Should you have questions and want additional information, please contact our office or write to one of our faculty. Better yet, set up an appointment to visit our beautiful campus overlooking the San Francisco Bay and come to see us in Meiklejohn Hall. If you are considering choosing East Bay and our Department of Communication, know that students are front and center of all that we do, how we plan and what we decide. You see will see our efforts to those ends reflected right here.
